I remember back in the day when it was PS3 vs 360 and the 360 was outselling the PS3 most months. The console wars were fire back then... it was pretty much what made this site. Then the PS4 came and the Playstation brand took control, so the console wars cooled down quite a bit and this site suffered.
But it looks like this gen will be a lot closer and the console wars will come back. It's still early and neither PS5 or Series X are really available yet.
What happened to Trails of Creation? This is the same one right? They just named it Trails into Reverie now.
What are you talking about? Can you give a specific example of which Playstation games feel the same?
The Japanese are just weird, they like Nintendo's little watered down gimmicks. Mini games, poor graphics, weak controller. A console that is part handheld or whatever. I think eventually the PS5 will do better as the JRPG's start to come to next gen. But it's still probably never going to do great there and it doesn't really have to. As long as does better than XBOX and it probably will.
EDIT: Maybe I shouldn't say bad things about the Japanese, I mean...
Yeah, this game has had my attention since it was first announced, and I was surprised when I found out it wasn't a full $59.99 game. It certainly has the look of a Triple A game. I think this is going to to one of those like Hellblade, where it starts off as an indie and then gets a full fledged sequel and eventually comes a major franchise. I just expect big things from it, it looks really good.
Yeah, I don't see them declining at all, I don't know what the hell this article is talking about. You can make a list of single player story driven games and the list will be in the hundreds if not thousands. Playstation has a lot of great franchises like that and recently XBOX at E3 showed they're stepping up their game as well. As far as the silent protagonist, well that's really just Nintendo's weird way.
Sorry, I was going to post another comment but nevermind. I wish N4G gave you the option to delete. But anyway, I don't agree with this article at all. I think there are tons of single player story games,
@itsmebryan
I'm sure Playstation has there own games. There's a ton of stuff Playstation can be working on. I'm sure they have plenty of games in works and even some third party deals
But I agree, XBOX is here to play this gen and I think it's going to be a close console race this time. Sony shot themselves in the foot with the PS3 and then later Microsoft returned the favor with the XBOX one, but now I think both companies have learned an...
So I'm not the only one who thinks Redfall looks kind of lame? I remember one of the ladies on the post show was acting like it was the greatest thing ever... And I'm like, "what is she talking about?" It looks kind of fortnite-ish with the cartoony characters, and that women's big afro hair?? I mean come on... Some people say it reminds them of Left 4 Dead a bit, but Left 4 Dead is a zombie shooter, how can you compare? Besides, Back 4 Blood is the real next Left 4 Dead...
How do you know? Maybe they would of shown, God of War: Ragnarok, Gran Turismo 7, FF16(which is console exclusive I heard), and other games they've been working on...
EDIT: I just realized, it's kinda true, I can't even list that many upcoming PS5 games that are exclusive or anything like that. Suddenly I think Sony needs to step it up, I'm sure they have their plan but okay... They did a State of Play on Ratchet & Clank, the game is out now and it'...
True, that looks pretty good also. Especially if you like Persona.
Yeah, I've really been looking forward to this one. It looks like one of the best JRPG's I've seen in a while. I'm looking at 3 games this year in particular... Back 4 Blood, Dying Light 2, and Tales of Arise. So that's saying quite a bit.
Yeah, they sure did. Nintendo just showed off their usual bunch of mini games, some footage of Breath of the Wild 2 that looks more like DLC than a real sequel, and a 2D side-scrolling Metroid game. Everyone else was a total joke, so of course XBOX won E3.
@Tacoboto
I guess... Don't get me wrong I thought XBOX had a solid conference, it didn't blow me away or anything. I made a list of the big console exclusives they showed.
Halo Infinite
Redfall
Starfield
The Outerworlds 2
Forza 5
Atomic Heart
Contraband
Psychonauts 2
Stalker 2
Of all those games, maybe 3 stand out to me. Halo of course is their flagship fran...
I have no idea what any of this means, kind of sounds like a bunch of damage control to me. I understand Sony doesn't have the money Microsoft does to acquire studios like Bethesda, but how skipping E3 and letting all the attention be on XBOX and Nintendo is a good strategy is beyond me.
Well, I just need to say that I've never played the original, I never played Crisis Core, and I've never seen Advent Children. So I have little understanding of what's going on. All I know is how the remake ended and I didn't expect much from the INTERmission episode other than some backtracking with Yuffie. So when I saw this stuff at the end, it was a real treat for me, it just further sets up what's coming in the 2nd part. At least that's what it seems like.
I wish they would also bring back Faith Seed, I know that you defeat her as a boss fight but I think if they wanted to they could say it wasn't really her, just a hallucination of her. Either way Far Cry 5 is the game that put Far Cry on the map for me. Maybe I'm the minority here but I hope the next installment is more along the lines of a sequel to part 5. I think part 5 really took the series to a whole new level of popularity and mainstream appeal. I can't imagine Far Cry 6 go...
It never says. It's most likely just a myth that androids made up. The android that comes closest to leading and freeing android kind is probably Markus but I don't think he's meant to be rA9.
One of the best and most memorable games I've played in a long time. I saw a review earlier of 1.5/5 or something like that. I don't know what game those people played. I guess everyone is allowed to have an opinion, no matter how dumb it is.
Honestly, the last great narrative to me was Final Fantasy X. I'm not sure that Kingdom Hearts had anything to do with the weak narratives of FF12, FF13, FF15. If anything they've made changes to the development teams and also merged with Enix. Remember before they were just Square Soft.
And then that brings us to FF7 Remake which to me is the best in a long time. I'm really intrigued by where they're taking the story. I think the game did a great job of int...
